Name for Tea Brand

(1940 ,Allen Bowtell)

When I visited the IWM for the collection of the Ministry of food, luckily found some interesting research for my project. For example, on this day in 1940, people believed that drinking less than two or three cups a day would strike at the very heart of wartime morale. Action was immediate and swift when war broke out, and tea was dispersed to warehouse across the land. Therefore, the research is appropriate for the theory of my project.

Moreover, I found that about 11 o'clock, people usually have brunch as a replacement for both lunch as well as breakfast and then tea plays a vital role on those light meals.

Finally, when I heard the popular wartime song—Everything stops for tea, which is a jolly homage to the British 4 o’clock tea breaks, I think maybe I could name the brand by those interesting research.

As a result, after visited the museum, I decide to name the brand “Eleven Four”.

Tutorial-- 22 Jan 2013

Today’s one by one tutorial with Kay is a great experience because she thought my presentation for the module one looked very interesting and she believed that if I continued putting more effort into my works, the project would be highly professional. Therefore, she gave me some advices to help me achieve my goal. There are several suggestions that I organized from the discussion below:

There are several bullet points below:
    • Think of name for tea brand and app.
    • Look at formalizing questionnaires—contact with creative companies to gain knowledge of tea drinker and maybe it could be a clever way in to an internship?
    • Continue to develop visual language00 explore theory around 1950’s tea lady
    • Look at storyboarding for my app.

    Presentation--Module One

    (2012, Fuling)

In today’s presentation, we have to show what we have done in the first module and how we want to achieve through doing the project. Hence, at the beginning of the presentation, I presented the background of my project. For example, why I want to use the tea lady to be the symbol of the brand and what is new and important about my brand. Then, I presented the visual style that I might apply to the brand. I want to give my audiences the atmosphere of the 1950s which is the golden age of the occupation of tea ladies. Finally, I displayed some visual works for my classmates and tutors. In the end, through this presentation, I think not only my tutors but also my classmates could understand how my theory will apply to the project.

    DESIGN SINCE 1945

    ROYAL COURT THEATRE 'S POSTER

Last Friday I travelled to London for seeing the collection of the 1950’s illustration in V&A museum. Seeing such a wide variety of the 1950’s illustration helps me a lot because I hope the brand make people feel they are in the 1950s, which is the golden age of the occupation of tea ladies; hence, through the illustration, I created a series of tea ladies.

    1900-1982

Him was born in Lódz, Poland, of Russian-Jewish parents. He was a designer whose work plays a viral role over 50 years from Russsia, Germany, Poland, and England. His works included children’s book illustration, advertising, and exhibition design. When he met and partnered with January Lewitt, they designed some poster for the war effort.

I really enjoy his illustration, especially, the figure he created on the poster so when I created the character of the tea lady, I thought maybe I could learn from him.

There are some of figure of tea ladies inspired by his work below.
