Tutorial of MA project--13 Nov 2012

(Fuling, 2013)

On 13th November, I met my tutorial group. It was helpful to get some suggestions from them, especially when I felt lost of the direction of MA second project. For example, how could I package the idea—to encourage people to drink the English afternoon tea during work and how to brand the concept? As a result, I pointed several advices from the discussion.

There are several bullet points below
  • Research other modules that bring food to the busy working place
  • Carry out case study/ questionnaires
  •  Look at packaging—how branding and advertising could work.

Case Study-- Graze

'Graze' is a way of having healthy snacks delivered to you.

'Graze Box' is delivered to you and comes as a small flat cardboard box (it fits through the letterbox so it is convenient for employees, or workers to enjoy it) which is split into four sections. Each section has a small plastic container filled with a different snack. You also get a little booklet which contains information about each snack including nutrional info such as calories, fat, carbs, etc. You also get other facts in there and normally something else such as vouchers to give your friends which entitle them to a free box.

I can learn how Graze to brand the concept'' To delivery Health to company."

Afternoon Tea

On 25th October, I went to the tea room hoping to realize the traditional English afternoon tea. First, I ordered a pot of tea and some sandwiches in order to experience afternoon tea ; then, I interviewed some staffs about the custom of traditional English afternoon tea and they shared some interesting stories and informations for me. For example, when I asked them what age group do most of their customers fall into, they told me most of their customers are women because creator is female-- Duchess of Bedford. Finally, I got very useful informations. After the episode, I felt drinking afternoon tea can help me release pressure. Now i can concentrate on my projects.

RESEARCH-- Visualizing Research

What I have learned after read the VISUALIZING RESEARCH?

“ The journey is more interesting than the destination.”

  • Project, title, aim, objectives—what?
  • Rational, context—why?
  • Methodology—how?
  • Outcomes—what’s new?
